Community Garden has been an important outreach ministry of Nativity for over a decade and several Nativity members have invested considerable time and energy in sustaining this ministry. In recent years a large portion of the garden was used by immigrants who could not find their native foods and who were struggling to support a large extended family.
A Community Garden is a valuable asset that Nativity can offer to the greater community. The Community Garden is dormant for the 2016 Gardening Season. However, an exploration effort led by Colin Brownlow (a member of the Community Outreach Team) has been initiated to evaluate the long-term future of Nativity’s Community Garden. The exploration effort will include identifying and meeting with potential community partners as well as visiting local successful Community Gardens. The effort will culminate this fall with a formal proposal to the Community Outreach Team. Nativity members interested in participating in an exploration work group are encouraged to contact Colin Brownlow at firstname.lastname@example.org.
