One of the greatest blessings of serving as the Bishop of ECMN is getting to support and spend time with our young people. Whether at youth groups, youth retreats, camp, Breck or Shattuck-St. Mary’s, we have incredible young people who are being the Beloved Community to one another and in the world. They are gifted, fired up, and engaging God’s mission in their context and culture. Over and over again, I am amazed at how they embody the Way of Love that our Presiding Bishop speaks about.
This coming weekend is ECMN’s first-ever Youth Sunday. The hope is that all of our faith communities lift up their young people and young people across
ECMN. Another hope is that everyone across ECMN joins in to give generously to the Bishop Brian N. Prior Youth Scholarship Fund. I am humbled and honored by the generous gift that started this fund and incredibly grateful to all those are working to increase this recently established endowment.
The goal is simple: to ensure that every young person across ECMN can attend youth retreats and camps regardless of their financial capacity to do so.
If each Episcopalian gave just $7, we’d have enough to reach our goal.
I welcome you to consider how you in your faith community might celebrate Youth Sunday. Find resources and ideas below, as well as links to the eight ECMN camps and service trips that young people can engage in this summer.
